A Call to Care

A Call to Care, a creative documentary-style film exploring nurses’ experience during the pandemic and their hopes for the best future of care.

Co-created by artist collective archipelago, writer Zia Ahmed, and nurses from the Royal College of Nursing, the piece combines first-hand storytelling of nurses’ stories, music, poetry and more to produce a joyful, enlightening and true to life portrayal of the experiences and hopes of the nursing sector and our caring communities.

A Call to Care is a HOME Homemakers commission, with additional support from Camden People’s Theatre, Lawrence Batley Theatre and The Civic, Barnsley

About the artists

archipelago is a theatre-based collective led by Beth Knight and Laurence Young. They produce vibrant and political work in a joyful manner and are passionate about the depth and richness co-creation with communities can bring to stories that reflects the state of the world we live in.

Their previous work An Act of Care premiered at HOME in January 2020, A fiercely political punk gig theatre show about the NHS, An Act of Care was redeveloped in light of the pandemic as a short film and a new play that will be touring the UK in Spring 2022.
